The DMWF International Gold Medal Award
How it started
When the world-renowned and uncontroversial figure Wazed Miah passed away, the popular legend of the martial arts world, Grand Master A.K.M. Farhadul Kabir, who had earned black belts from over 50 countries, noticed that there was no established tradition to honor those who selflessly strive for the betterment of society. At that time, the government had not yet instituted a practice of awarding honors to foreign citizens. He was the only son of a prominent family of poets in society, and thus, at his own expense, taking a break from the martial arts world, he initiated the Dr. M.A. Wazed Miah International Gold Medal award to recognize the unparalleled contributions of citizens worldwide in their respective fields.
